Optics Mounting Service

Conrad and Sons Guns  |  conradguns.com

Mounted right. Torqued right. Zeroed right. The first time.

A quality optic is only as good as the mount it sits on. An improperly installed scope or red dot can shift under recoil, fail to hold zero, or damage your firearm and optic over time. At Conrad and Sons Guns, our professional optics mounting service ensures every optic is installed correctly — with proper ring alignment, torqued fasteners, and a confirmed bore sight — so you can hit the range or the field with confidence from the very first round.

Why Professional Mounting Matters

Many shooters underestimate how much a poor optics installation affects accuracy and reliability. Even a small mistake during mounting — overtorqued rings, misaligned bases, improper eye relief, or a canted reticle — can cost you precision and potentially damage a several-hundred-dollar optic. Professional installation ensures:

Consistent zero that holds under recoilProper eye relief for your shooting positionLevel reticle with no cantCorrect torque on all fastenersNo damage to optic tube or scope bodyOptimal mount height for your firearm and use caseConfirmed bore sight before you leavePeace of mind knowing the job was done right

Starting at $30 per optic

  • Mount installation on existing rail or base
  • Ring installation and torque to spec

How It Works

  1. Bring your firearm and optic. Bring the unloaded firearm, your optic, and all mounting hardware (rings, base, screws). If you purchased your optic from us, we will have everything needed. Not sure what hardware you need? Call ahead and we will help.
  2. We review your setup. Our technician will evaluate your firearm’s rail system, the optic, and your intended use to confirm hardware compatibility and select the optimal ring height and mount configuration.
  3. We confirm the price. Pricing is reviewed and confirmed before we begin. Any additional hardware needed will be discussed with you upfront.
  4. Professional installation. Your optic is installed using precision torque drivers, leveling tools, and manufacturer torque specifications. No guesswork — every fastener is properly secured.
  5. Bore sight and verification. Every install is bore sighted before it leaves the bench so you are on paper quickly at the range. Confirmed zero packages include live-fire zero verification.
  6. Pick up and go. We walk you through the completed installation, show you your adjustments, and send you out ready to shoot.

Don’t Have Rings or a Base Yet?

No problem. We stock a wide selection of rings, bases, mounts, and mounting hardware in-store. Our staff can help you select the right hardware for your firearm and optic combination before your installation appointment. Stop in or call us at 636-229-1966 to check current inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything other than my firearm and optic?

Bring your unloaded firearm and your optic. If you already have rings, bases, or mounting hardware, bring those as well. If you are unsure what hardware you need, we can help you select the correct components in-store. Bring any tools or manuals that came with the optic if available.

Can you mount an optic on a pistol?

Yes, provided the pistol has an optics-ready (OR) slide with a compatible cut. We will verify compatibility before installation. If your slide requires an adapter plate for your specific optic footprint, we will source or supply the correct plate. Slide milling for non-optics-ready pistols is not a service we offer at this time.

Do you zero the optic at the range?

Our Full Mount & Zero and Precision Build packages include a confirmed zero. We bore sight all installs as a minimum standard. Live-fire zeroing is performed at our designated range. If you prefer to zero yourself, we will bore sight the optic and send you out ready to finish zeroing at the distance of your choice.

What if my rings or base don’t fit?

We will catch compatibility issues before the installation begins. If your existing hardware is not compatible with your firearm or optic, we will recommend the correct components and provide a revised quote before proceeding. We will never force incompatible hardware.

Can you mount optics on AR-15 uppers or stripped receivers?

Yes. Bring the upper or the complete rifle — either works. If you are dropping off only an upper, ensure it is unloaded and the bolt carrier group is not present, or notify us at drop-off.

How long does an installation take?

Most standard installations are completed same day, often within 1–2 hours. More complex builds or setups requiring ring lapping, base installation, or confirmed live-fire zero may take until the following business day. We will give you an estimated completion time at drop-off.
